Opportunity for the team  to share their current situation/predicament, their perceptions of it, their feelings about this.

Good to define that the session was for the team themselves in helping them to consider where they are at, and how they can feel better about this. There was a good intro to this.

Tailoring questions to them to allow them to open up feelings/reasons why they feel as they do – much clarity gained by doing this. Clearly distinguished between the 2 broad areas that were being discussed (i) system improvements and ii) the way the team felt.

Asked the team which of these they wanted to focus on and they were sure that they wanted to focus on ii. Permission was then given NOT to focus on system improvements at this meeting. (This felt profound). Everyone then had to honour this and they did (mainly).

Sarah reflected back to people what had been said at various times, and this was really effective. The team members did conclude that they could discuss the issues at hand even without having resolutions to the issues because it wasn’t all their responsibility. (This felt profound). Outcome from the session was agreed and it seemed that this felt helpful to everyone – it was a positive ending. Tone and general presence was great and really did put people at ease.
